  Every two years, the Biennale INTERIEUR in Kortrijk, Belgium, presents innovative interior design to around 90‘000 visitors. The interior fair is known for its uncompromising international selection of contemporary design and has become an important event in the design scene since its first event in 1968.

  An armchair that moves with the movements of the person seated. Its mantra is to permit and even encourage changes in posture.

  The armchair and sofa models are a redesign from the 70ties and establish themselves as design objects with comfort character.

  New de Sede Outlet in Suhr, Switzerland

  We have opened a further de Sede Outlet in Suhr, Aargau, in the building of our shareholder Oel-Pool.

  In Suhr we will offer returns, trade fair goods, prototypes and further outlet goods to an attractive price, in addition to our existing outlet in Klingnau. We are looking forward to your visit!

  New: de Sede at Harrods

  In July 2018 we will be opening our first own shop-in-shop at Harrods. On an area measuring 220 square metres, we will present new product innovations, well-known classics and successful design icons, as well as our innovative fashion accessory collection. The shop-in-shop is on the third floor of Harrods.

  de Sede is the first Swiss furniture manufacturer to come to Knightsbridge, and the company perfectly completes the appearance of the furniture collections consisting of Italian, British and American brands. We will be presenting classics such as the legendary DS-31 model from the 70s. We also will be showing design icons such as the endless sofa DS-600 and the sports car seat-inspired DS-57 which have been popular for years. Newly-launched product innovations will also be included in the Harrods collection in the form of the new DS-1000 daybed and the DS-515 table and chair series by Greutmann Bolzern. Screens positioned right beside the sofa or armchair models will play videos of the functions of the individual designs directly at the POS.

  The Swiss manufacture also has a limited edition that is no less exclusive than the Harrods department store in London: the DS-1000 daybed designed by Ulrich Kössl will be available exclusively in London with the tube construction in gold.

  Ulrich Kössl, Chief Creative Officer at de Sede: “The look of our new showroom at Harrods is intended to demonstrate that the luxury brand de Sede blends perfectly with the internationally recognised luxury department store that is Harrods. As was already the case at the international furniture fairs in Cologne and Milan, we are not just presenting our sofa or chair models, but in fact our well-thought-out furnishing world. We want visitors to immerse themselves in our world, from carpets and occasional tables to handmade leather accessories.”

  Further highlights at Harrods are the new de Sede bag designs. They are made with the same passion for detail, partly in pure handwork, from the same leather as the upholstered furniture, and are intended to carry the unique craftsmanship of the manufacture into the world.

  Swiss Consulate General in Mumbai

  The Swiss Consulate General in Mumbai has been reconstructed and new designed by the Swiss architectural office MACH Architektur and presents itself now with a new furnishing concept including selected models of our manufacture. The selection and delivery of the furniture has been advised by the 360 degrees object supplier Modularis.

  In India, the new Swiss Consulate General presents itself now with stylish designed rooms that show transparency and openness while at the same time the high security requirements of an embassy abroad are fulfilled. We congratulate MACH architecture on this successful realization.

  DS-1000 nominated for the German Design Award 2019

  We proudly announce that our DS-1000 daybed, designed by Ulrich Kössl and the de Sede Design Team, has been nominated for the German Design Award 2019.

  The German Design Award honors innovative products and projects that are groundbreaking for the German and international design landscape. The Award is bestowed by the German Design Council, the expert for brand and design in Germany.

  The jury session will take place in the beginning of August 2018, the official award ceremony will be held at the international consumer goods fair “Ambiente” in the beginning of 2019.

  Custom-made design for Swiss Designer Willi Gläser

  For his new house in the Swiss canton Aargau, the designer Willi Gläser commissioned de Sede, to manufacture a stair railing made of just one piece of leather: A special design that demands competence and precision.

  In a video interview, the Swiss designer and product developer tells his story with de Sede, and also gives a short tour through his new home.

  Salone del Mobile 2018 – alla prossima volta

  Salone del Mobile 2018 is past.

  From 17th to 22nd April, we presented our new collection for 2018 - for the first time on two floors on 240 square metres. Architects, furniture dealers, designers and journalists from all over the world were able to immerse themselves in our de Sede world and to discover our product innovations.

  The highlight of the fair was our newly launched designer armchair DS-343 which is based on a patented seating study. The armchair not only permits, even encourages changes in posture. In addition, our DS-515 indoor and semi-outdoor series aroused enormous enthusiasm.

  de Sede is part of the Swiss Design Lounge at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich

  After three years of renovation work, the main building of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich behind the main station Zurich reopens its doors this March. The listed building is hardly recognizable and surprises with a young and modern concept: The Swiss Design Lounge. More than 50 pieces of furniture from Switzerland’s furniture history can be discovered, including one classic from our house, the Terrazza DS-1025.

  What makes this exhibition so special is that the exposed chairs, rugs and tables are not only exhibited for viewing, but also explicitly for pleasure. The lounge shall act as a “social space” and visitors are kindly invited, to linger in the lounge and to get in touch with Swiss Design objects.

  SWISS opens new Lounge with customized de Sede armchairs

  The Swiss airlines SWISS opened its new SWISS First Lounge A at Airport Zurich on March 5th 2018. From now on the Swiss carrier welcomes its First Class passengers on 650 square meters with check-in facilities, an own security check, an à-la-Card-Restaurant, as well as a barista bar. Our de Sede pieces are also part of it. In cooperation with the design duo Greutmann Bolzern, we created special designs which withstand the demands of a lounge that is opened from 5.45 am to 10.30 pm and perfectly blend with the stylish interior concept of the lounge.

  We already developed special products for the SWISS lounge of 2016 in Terminal E at Zurich Airport and are very pleased to renew this cooperation with SWISS successfully.

  imm Cologne 2018 is history

  At our booth at imm Cologne 2018 we invited our visitors to be taken away by our new de Sede world. With our 2018 collection we are launching new dining and coffee tables, chairs, outdoor furniture, beds, as well as design icons and new innovations which blend together with our upholstered pieces to a world of furnishings that is designed down to the last detail.

  And the winners are…

  Our new layer DS-1000 has been selected by Stylepark as one of the most interesting innovations of imm Cologne 2018. Stylepark is an online platform for architecture and design products.

  Stylepark describes DS-1000 as an outstanding example of current home design. All winners are on display in the exhibition “Stylepark Selected” in the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne (MAKK) using a 3D animation technology.

  DS-600 at the Christmas Dinner of Louis Vuitton Italy

  This December, Louis Vuitton Italy hosted a luxurious clients dinner in the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense in Milano.

  For this special location, Louis Vuitton was looking for an exclusive sofa, that on the one hand gives seating possibilities and on the other hand shows design understanding. The choice fell on our DS-600, which matched beautifully with the high wooden bookshelves of the library.

  de Sede shines with the Christmas lightening „Lucy“ in Zurich

  On November 23rd, one of the most popular events of the pre-Christmas season took place in Zurich. The Christmas lightening “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” was switched on to welcome the Christmas season.

  For this beautiful and sparkling moment, the Brand Store GROSSCOUTURE invited to an Apéro, where a very special guest was presented: our DS-ANGEL bag.

  Numerous guests were able to admire the exclusive de Sede bag. The Luxury bag sparkled with its 166 diamonds, 194g gold and 245g Platinum with the Christmas lights.

  de Sede at the DirectDay 2017

  This November, the DirectDay took place for the 18th time. This annual event, organized by the Swiss Post, developed within the last years to the most important Branch Event of the Direct Marketing world. de Sede was part of it, in fact right in the middle: Four de Sede DS-17 armchairs were placed on the stage of the Kursaal in Berne, where presenter Stephan Klapproth welcomed his guests.

  The choice of a de Sede armchair was not made by chance explains event organizer Mr. Etter. The seating comfort of his guests is a big concern for him, because this contributes decisively to the success of a relaxed discussion round. The long-standing cooperation between Swiss Post and de Sede is a desired combination on both sides.

  Under the heading “Fact or Fake”, highly controversial questions about constructed truths, fake news and lying journalism were in the focus of attention. Highlight of the event was the surprise appearance of Iris Berben.

  Opening of a new workspace/showroom in Los Angeles

  On September 23rd 2017, we celebrated the grand opening of our new workspace/showroom in Los Angeles.

  From now on, our new exhibition excites the California west coast with our legendary classics, our product novelties, as well as with our newly launched de Sede hand bag collection. In true Hollywood style, we add another special highlight to our concept: Laura Basci, the Swiss fashion designer. She and her seamstresses, her fitting room with exclusive red carpet gowns, her custom-made outfits and her new collection are also at home in the new workspace/showroom.

  
  Workspace/Showroom

  Together with Laura Basci, we draw smiles on all visitors in our over 800 square metre large LA workspace/showroom. Our models, along with Laura Basci’s couture designs, are a classy and stylish combination presented in the heart of the Los Angeles' art and design scene, on 446 South La Brea Avenue.

  In the workspace/showroom one can find de Sede’s legendary pieces, like the world famous NECK-Leather model DS-47, or the boxing glove DS-2878, which will be re-introduced into the collection next year. Additionally, the freely moveable sofa DS-1064, the day bed DS-80, the recamier sofa DS-102, the terrazza DS-1025 and the DS-600, which rose to fame through appearances in Hollywood movies, are presented in the exhibition. Product novelties shine on our newly created „Walk of de Sede“: the modular sofa DS-22 by Stephan Hürlemann, as well as the modern quick change artist DS-490, prove to be the youngest innovations of the Swiss factory. A special seat of honor is saved for our newly launched de Sede handbag collection, as well for the diamond encrusted and hand-sewn hand bag DS-Angel.

  The Laura Basci studio is on the second floor of the workspace/showroom. Here, one can find the custom-made red carpet gowns, and the impressive fitting room, where celebrities come for their fittings, of the Swiss, Los Angeles based fashion designer.

  Cooperation with Laura Basci

  Four years ago, the Swiss Laura Basci created her own couture tailoring and fashion design company in Los Angeles. Now, she is one of the most important contacts in Hollywood when it comes to gowns for the red carpet or custom-made looks. World-famous stars like Angelina Jolie, Octavia Spencer, Felicity Huffman, Saoirse Ronan and Anna Faris are a part of her client list.

  Monika Walser, CEO of de Sede, says to the opening of the new workspace/showroom: “We are very happy with our young cooperation with the talented Laura Basci. Her exclusive designs and our stylish furniture and handbags, both created with a love for detail and craftsmanship, enter into a perfect symbiosis.
